Treatment price is the number every clinic advertises. It is usually about two thirds of what the trip costs you. Here is the other third.

U.S. ranges come from published self-pay benchmarks for 2025–2026; Colombia ranges reflect typical private-clinic pricing in Medellín and Bogotá. Materials, case complexity, imaging and the specialist's experience move both columns. Treat every figure here as a planning range, never a quote.
The gap column is not your saving. It ignores flights, lodging, food, a second trip, and the cost of getting a failure fixed at home. Read the stacked chart below before you get excited about a percentage.

Flights
Round trip from most U.S. hubs to Medellín or Bogotá runs roughly $380–$780. Book flexible: treatment plans grow once the CBCT is read.
A bed
$38–$210 a night depending on how you travel. Recovery days are more comfortable with a kitchen and a lift. Use hotels or short-term vacation rental platforms; stay within a short ride of the clinic.
Food and getting around
$28–$140 a day. Soft-food weeks cost less than you expect. Ride-hailing across Medellín is inexpensive; the metro is not much use with a swollen face.

At what point does flying start paying?
Travel overhead is roughly fixed. Dental savings scale with the number of teeth. That gives you a crossing point, and it is lower than most people assume.

The honest version: if you need one crown, get it done at home. If you need six crowns, eight veneers, several implants or a full arch, the trip pays for itself and then keeps going. Everything in between is a judgement call about your time off work, not your money.

Osseointegration typically takes three to six months, which is why implant and full-arch work splits across two visits. Some clinics offer immediate-load protocols; whether you are a candidate is a clinical decision made from your imaging, not a marketing choice.

Four things worth doing first
Verify the dentist, not the clinic
Colombia publishes its licensed health professionals at rethus.gov.co. Get the treating specialist's full name in writing and check it yourself. Clinic branding is not a credential.
Know what JCI does and does not mean
Joint Commission International accredits hospitals. It does not accredit individual dental clinics or individual dentists. A clinic implying otherwise is telling you something about its marketing.
Get the failure terms in writing
What is the warranty on the crown, the implant post, the prosthesis? Who pays for a remake? Does the warranty require you to fly back? A good clinic answers this in a sentence.
Move the money properly
Card payments abroad carry foreign transaction fees and a poor rate. A multi-currency account at the mid-market rate is cheaper on a five-figure balance — Wise is what we use (affiliate link). Deposits go to business accounts, never personal ones.
